ENERGY MANAGEMENT: Changing Our Story
Each one of us has a story inside of us. You know the one! It's usually from early childhood and we have dragged it into our adult life. It keeps us feeling stuck and unable to move forward. This story drains our energy. We can CHOOSE to revise or update this story with a new 2004 version, which gives us our energy back. This doesn't mean that the original story is untrue or inaccurate--just that we have reached a point where we are ready to let it go, alter it, and take our power back.
I share my old story (1967 version) and today's version with you because I think it matters enough in the realm of "Energy Management" to do so. So here goes. The short versions of both:
OLD STORY: When I was 8 years old, my father died, my mother became very ill, and my 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters left me emotionally and physically. They all needed to take care of their own lives and adjust to this new situation we were in, with no father and a mother who was having a difficult time dealing with life and being left with 5 children, no money, and a lot of sadness. I began reaching out to other people to help me get along and grow up...the extended family, neighbors, people at school, and even strangers. My own family was gone in the way I needed them to be there for me and I didn't feel much love anymore in our core family. Everyone was in shock, grief and depressed. My entire family died when my father died and they have not come back to life even today. (This story is bleak, fearful and draining of energy.)
NEW STORY: When I was 8 years old, my family went through an energetic shift due to the death of our father. My core family began to split apart and I began connecting more with the Universal family--people beyond our family unit; extended family, friends, neighbors, people at school, and even strangers. I learned at a very early age that everyone was my family and that we are all brothers and sisters in this one World Family and that we all have strengths to share with one another. I learned to interact with ease with "colorful and interesting" people from all walks of life, cultures, beliefs and economic backgrounds. This early "boot camp" was the training I needed to become the strong, successful, independent and interdependent person I am today. I can survive anything and have turned many lemons into delicious lemonade. I am at home with my inner strengths and values, which formed at this early age as I let go of the core family and became part of the Family of Humankind. (This new story has life, light, and power and gives energy and peace.)
Both are stories. What really happened is "parent died." Everything else beyond that point is what I added to it. The first story is a child's interpretation. The second is an adult's. One is at the effect of what happened, the other is at cause. We all need to tell our stories, to get it straight within ourselves, but then when we have...we are FREE to update, change and alter our perceptions so we can make the MOST of our energy and live joyfully...because JOY IS THE BEST MEDICINE OF ALL.
